What Is a Subdomain?

Subdomain is a domain name that is part of a top level domain name. To create a subdomain, you have to have a main and unique domain.

A good example of popular domain name is Google’s mail.google.com subdomain that is a subdomain of google.com

Subdomain is a unique website and each subdomain is allocated with a standalone folder on your server. Subdomains are often used for testing new versions of a site without interrupting work of your main site. It’s also a great place to host your mail server at for easier accessibility.
